This spiced cake recipe was definitely inspired by the Ginger cake I have been ordering recently. Last year January, I went to a sewing class hosted by Nedoux_sews and let me tell you, I was flabberwhelmed!!! I have to give it to people that sew on a regular basis and even find it therapeutic. You all are the real MVPs. Nedu was 100% patient with everyone and was very clear on instructions. A number of us came out with decent enough shift dresses. Some even attempted adding pleats and gathers. Once I was able to put my shift dress together, I didn’t bother with the rest.
Now why did I go on this journey of this sewing club story? Well during our class, a lovely lady brought chocolate cake for a class of people she had never met before and shared it with us. If you have been following this blog for a while, you know baking is not my forte and I don’t even necessarily like eating cakes. However, everyone in class was raving about the cake so I decided to see what the fuss?
“LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE PARTY IN MY MOUTH WITH ONE BITE OF THIS CHOCOLATE CAKE”
I felt like my life was changed forever. I know I sound dramatic but have you ever had chocolate cake so moist? not overwhelmingly chocolatey? not choking you? Yes, that was Judith’s cake. Her cake changed my life so much so that if I have an event, her cake is always included in my order even if its a second cake. That’s how good it is. Her brand is Nutressa Bakes so be sure to check her out. I moved from chocolate cakes to ordering ginger cakes from her and she always makes it extra special for me.. So this Christmas, I decided to attempt a spiced cake and I quite liked the outcome. Its not as melt in your mouth as Judith’s cakes but this will do for now.
